above 9/4/1615, the first solo exhibition by Maison Martin Margiela, in collaboration with Dutch Microbiologist Dr. A.W.S.M van Egeraat. Held in the glass pavillon of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam that adjoins a rose garden and a large decorative pond , the exhibition features outfits treated with different strains of bacteria, yeast and mould, all isolated from the air and nurtured to provide varying colours and textures. Over the first five days of the exhibition these organisms develop on the clothes and, once their gestation period is complete, change the colour and aspect of the garment.
below spring/summer 2011 Raf Simons show held at Le Centorial was an homage to Martin Margiela. Le Centorial houses a glass dome designed by Gustave Eiffel, indoor walkway made of turquoise glass paving situated underneath a contemporary glass canopy.
